- Formulary
- A formulary is the list of prescription drugs a plan covers. Drugs may sit on different cost tiers or have special rules, so the exact drug name and dose should be checked against the current plan list.
- ANOC
- The Annual Notice of Change explains changes in your plan’s coverage, costs, or service area for next year. Review it before the new plan year, then verify your drugs and providers using current plan materials.
- Extra Help
- A federal program that lowers prescription drug costs for people with limited income. Many people qualify without knowing it. Checking costs nothing and takes minutes.
- AEP
- The Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, is when most people can change their Medicare plan for the following year. Other windows exist depending on your situation — a licensed agent can tell you which one applies to you.
- Copay vs. coinsurance
- A copay is a fixed dollar amount — say, a set fee for a visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the cost instead. Which one applies, and how much, depends on the plan and the service.
